Ele-Espana 2009 Exhibition
Report
The exhibition took place in the main exhibition center of Barcelona
which is located in the heart of the city, at piazza Espana. The 3 days of
event (17-19 June 2009 went smoothly in all aspects mainly thanks to the
professional teams of the exhibition center that accommodates all major
events in Catalonia and dozens of international important exhibitions
every year.
We used Hall 1 which is right on the piazza Espana and seen from
everywhere. The area has easy access from the airport (15 minutes by car)
or underground from everywhere, and many hotels from 2 to 5 stars are
around as well as dozens of restaurants for every taste.
As reported pre-event, due to the heavy recession in Spain (which hit
mainly the fast growing building sector) the exhibition was considerably
reduced in relation to last edition. Nevertheless, the exhibitors
benefited excellent turn up of visitors. Even we, the organizers were
surprised. Over 2240 visitors in 3 days including 14% from abroad was
really a nice surprise. The non Spanish visitors were half from Europe
(from all European countries including east Europe with heavy
participation of Italian, German and British elevator people. There were
visitors from US as well as Latin America. Another large part was from
Asia (including a delegation of 12 people from Korea Geochang region). The
Korean delegation headed by Mr. Yang Dong – in (the mayor of Geochang
county) held a meeting with Joseph Stier, IAEE, discussing future options
of co-operation between the county and IAEE both on exhibitions and
congresses like Elevcon Asia.
The enclosed photos show some general views from the exhibition and
visitors as well as the meeting with the Korean delegation.

The 5th edition of Ele-Espana is planned to take place in the
same pavilion on 15-17 June 2011.

With deep sadness I inform that my dear friend and the one that assisted
to make Ele-Espana happen from day one, Jordi Corominas
was taken away
from us after a hard illness. His spirit was at the exhibition that he
loved so much. The family Corominas even though were broken from this sad
event went on and performed the event mainly his beloved wife Mercedes.
