Jordi Corominas
28/8/1944-18/5/09
After a long
illness, Jordi Corominas passed away on Monday, May 18, 2009, surrounded
by his family.
Jordi always
had an interest in everything mechanical. As a young man, his motorbike
was an extension of himself. The beginning of his professional career was
related to road and maritime transportation, as that was his father's
business. Later, this time on his own, he continued working near large
freighters, until, with the entry of Spain into the European Union –and
the subsequent elimination of certain boundaries– he strove for new
horizons. And in his search, he came across the lift sector, which he
quickly made his own, and to which he gave the best moments of his
professional and personal life. Jordi, who quickly understood the
functioning of lifts and their components, and especially what their
manufacturers and distributors needed, was the soul of Vertical Report
from 1998.
Those who
shared those moments with him recall how a publication that emerged from a
fair idea was born; an idea that until then he had been unable to
implement, and which finally, with a free path ahead, proved to be exactly
right, both for its professionalism and for its apt guidance. Vertical
Report is and will always be a publication with an international
appeal, as are the other publications with which such good relations were
formed, stemming from a strong sense of serving the vertical
transportation sector.
In 2003, EleEspaña was also born, a trade show which has grown thanks to
his encouragement and which, even in difficult economic times, has enough
know-how to carry on.
Jordi Corominas entered into this industry and forged an exceptional
network of good relations, with which he endeavoured to do his best for
the sector from his office every day. Jordi established something more
than just a business relationship with his customers. His success was
always based on his kindness, proving that we can be professionals and
personable at the same time. And there rests a job well done. You take
nothing when you go, but he takes all his achievements with him, and
leaves us with his indelible memory.
